It's beauty I'm after

Not superficial beauty, but beauty that arises when something is inherently right. Such beauty can indeed appear ugly. And I love fantastic stories. Every viewer is invited to discover the stories embedded in my pictures for themselves.

I live...

with my son among orchards and forests in Birkmannsweiler, a village east of Stuttgart. As a graphic designer, I create things like books, flyers, and business cards. In 2020, I discovered songwriting, which, along with collage, has become a second great passion of mine. I like: hiking, Jell-O, philosophizing, islands, sincerity, and campfires. I have never taken life for granted.

When I'm working on a collage...

and moving elements back and forth, I can sense when something feels right. The arrangement of the individual motifs follows a logic that is typical of dreams. Dreams, too, are essentially collages. My pictures can be playful, serious, humorous, meticulous, beautiful, and even ugly. They are a hymn to the imagination and a mystery even to myself.

Almost all individual images...

I took them myself. I go on photo trips again and again. I need to visit other places from time to time to give my art new impulses. I created my first collages at the age of 16. For this, I developed the negatives of my photos in my father's black-and-white darkroom and then processed them into collages with scissors and glue. Today, I create my images on the computer with Photoshop. This may sound unromantic and technical. But for me, the software is just a tool that offers more design possibilities than scissors and glue. The crucial part happens in the mind.
